Publication Charges

Jurnal Teknik Sipil (JUTEKS) does not require authors to pay any Article Processing Charges (APCs) or Article Submission Fees.

Open Access Policy

Jurnal Teknik Sipil (p-ISSN 2527-5496, e-ISSN 2621-9786) follows an Open Access policy, providing unrestricted online access to all published content. Readers can freely view, download, and share articles without any limitations.

Language

The journal accepts only manuscripts written in clear and professional English. Authors are encouraged to ensure their submissions are well-structured, concise, and grammatically accurate. To enhance readability and scientific clarity, authors who require assistance with language quality, grammar, or spelling may consider using a professional English editing service.

Style

Manuscripts should be structured as follows: Title, Authors and Affiliations, Abstract and Keywords, Main Body, Acknowledgments (if applicable), References, and Appendices (if applicable).

Abstract

The abstract, approximately 150 words in length, should provide a concise summary of the research. It must highlight the current state of knowledge, identify the research gap, state the research objective, outline the methodology, summarize key findings, and present the main conclusions. As a standalone document, separate from the article, the abstract should effectively capture the essence of the study. Avoid references; if essential, cite author(s) and year(s). Limit abbreviations, and if used, define them upon first mention. This ensures clarity and enhances its utility in information retrieval systems. Additionally, include three to ten keywords to facilitate efficient indexing.

Units

The use of SI units is mandatory throughout the manuscript. If alternative units are necessary, their SI equivalents must be provided in parentheses. While there are no strict rules for notation or abbreviations, each manuscript should clearly define all symbols and units to ensure clarity and self-containment. Proper definitions enhance readability and ensure precise communication of scientific information.

Figures and Tables

All visual elements, including photographs, charts, illustrations, and diagrams, should be labeled as Figures and integrated within the text. Figures and tables must be numbered separately and sequentially using Arabic numerals. Consistency in lettering, line styles, and symbols is essential, with any unnecessary details cropped out. To enhance clarity, multiple simple tables are preferable to a single complex one. Figures should be high quality and designed to remain clear when reduced by up to 50% of their original size. Lettering within figures must be legible and large enough to maintain readability after reduction. Each table and figure must include a concise, self-explanatory caption.

References and Use of Reference Management Software

To enhance the discoverability of research and ensure a high-quality peer review process, it is essential to include online links to cited sources. Accuracy in reference data is crucial for proper linking to abstracting and indexing services. Therefore, authors should verify the correctness of surnames, journal/book titles, publication years, and pagination to avoid errors in link creation.

Every reference cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa, to maintain consistency. Unpublished results and personal communications should not be included in the reference list but may be mentioned in the text. If cited, follow the journal’s reference style, replacing the publication date with either Unpublished results or Personal communication. References labeled as in press indicate that they have been accepted for publication.

Using reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote, is strongly recommended to streamline the citation process and ensure accuracy. If a specific template for this journal is unavailable, authors should follow the citation and reference formatting guidelines provided in this guide. JUTEKS use ASCE referencing and citation style.

References should be cited numerically in the text in consecutive order. Numerical citations must be enclosed in square brackets (e.g., [1]) and presented on the line rather than as superscripts. At the end of the manuscript, references should be listed in numerical order, providing sufficient details for readers to locate the cited sources. Whenever possible, authors are encouraged to include Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to enhance accessibility.

Review Process

All submissions undergo a rigorous peer review process conducted by independent experts. We employ a single-blind review system, in which reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but authors do not know the reviewers' identities. Based on the reviewers' feedback, the Editor will decide whether to accept, reject, or request revisions for the manuscript.

For manuscripts requiring Minor Revisions, authors will have one week to submit their revised version. For those requiring Major Revisions, the resubmission deadline is two weeks. Authors who require additional time for revisions should contact the editorial office in advance.

Authors must address all reviewer comments in a point-by-point response. If an author disagrees with a reviewer’s suggestion, they must provide a clear and well-reasoned explanation. This ensures a constructive dialogue between authors and reviewers, ultimately enhancing the quality of the manuscript.

Production and Publication

Upon acceptance, the manuscript will undergo a comprehensive editorial process, including professional copy-editing, English language editing, author proofreading, final corrections, pagination, and publication on the Jurnal Teknik Sipil (JUTEKS) website on https://juteks.pnk.ac.id

Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing

Authors must disclose any use of generative AI in the writing process when submitting their manuscript. This guideline applies specifically to writing and does not cover the use of AI for data analysis or research insights.

  • Appropriate Use: Generative AI and AI-assisted tools may only be used to improve the readability and language quality of the manuscript.
  • Human Oversight: AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed and edited by the authors, as AI outputs may appear authoritative but can be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their work.
  • Authorship Integrity: AI and AI-assisted tools cannot be credited as authors or co-authors, as authorship entails responsibilities that only human contributors can fulfill.

Authors must include a disclosure statement in their manuscript upon initial submission. This statement will be published in a separate section before the references. Below is an example:

Section Title: Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process.

Statement: The author(s) used [TOOL/SERVICE NAME] for [SPECIFIC PURPOSE] during manuscript preparation. The author(s) reviewed and edited the content as necessary and accept full responsibility for the published work.

This requirement does not apply to basic tools used for grammar, spelling, or reference checking. If no AI tools were used, no statement is needed.

Important Note: To protect author rights and ensure research confidentiality, this journal prohibits the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies, such as ChatGPT, in the peer review and manuscript evaluation process. The journal is actively reviewing compliant AI tools and may update this policy in the future
